Going to the doctor's office or hospital can often be a difficult and confusing experience for children and their family members. To make a child's visit to the hospital as pleasant as possible, The Mount Sinai Children's Center Foundation (CCF) works to help them have the best experience possible.

The CCF provides philanthropic support to Mount Sinai 's Department of Pediatrics by supporting projects that fall outside the budget of the hospital. Contributions from the CCF have significantly enhanced the hospital's efforts in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of childhood diseases. Further, the CCF enables The Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital to address the psychosocial needs of children during hospitalization by providing some of the comforts of home.

In January, 2006 we celebrated the opening of The Zone, a 3,000 square foot high-tech therapeutic and educational play environment for pediatric patients and their families. The Zone features the first live, interactive broadcast studio in a children's hospital, a lounge, theatre, family resource center, teen area, full kitchen and performing space. The Zone was built through contributions from the CCF and the pediatric foundations of Troy Aikman and Garth Brooks.

Currently the major focus of the CCF is the construction of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit ( PICU) which officially began in January of 2011 . The new PICU will wed optimum medical technology with a family friendly facility for the most critically ill children.  This 15-bed unit will feature state-of-the-art equipment and provide services that will be designed to welcome the parents as a part of the medical team. Once the PICU has been completed, planning will proceed for a new 46-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
